History of Cape Coast Technical University

Cape Coast Technical University was established in 1986 as a Technical Institute, under the Ghana Education Service. It was later upgraded to a Polytechnic in 1992 and subsequently to a Technical University in 2016. The institution has come a long way since its inception and has made significant contributions to the development of technical education in Ghana.

Admission Requirements

To gain admission into Cape Coast Technical University, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants:

• Must have credits in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and three elective subjects relevant to the programme of study.
• Must have a minimum grade of C6 in English Language and Mathematics.

2. Mature Applicants:

• Must be at least 25 years old.
• Must pass the Mature Students’ Entrance Examination conducted by the university.
• Must have at least two years of relevant work experience.

3. HND Applicants:

• Must have a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant programme from a recognized institution.
• Must have completed their National Service.

4. Bachelor of Technology Applicants:

• Must have a minimum of Second Class Lower Division in a relevant programme from a recognized institution.
• Must have completed their National Service.
